Freedom to be an Ass

Just when you think the left can't get any more classless. I'm so angry I'm clenching my teeth. They're lucky I wasn't on that street corner. Posted by: Proud Eagle at June 11, 2004 04:44 PMActually, I think that might have been the Phelps gang. I saw some footage of them on the news and in addition to the Reagan/Hell signs, there were some damning Bush for being pro-gay. Don't ask me to explain that one, just what a couple folks were holding. I suppose we may next see a "Eat a gay fetus for Christ" poster. Posted by: chthus at June 11, 2004 05:10 PMYep, Phelps. 'A small but fervent group of protesters held signs denouncing Reagan for not condemning homosexuality. "All the expressions of the world are insisting he is in heaven," declared Margie Phelps, 47, who said she was with the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan. "It's too late. He's not in heaven and someone has to say that."'
Maybe they can invite Rall over for supper. Strange bedfellows indeed. Posted by: chthus at June 11, 2004 05:15 PMThat's mental illness. Posted by: Jim at June 11, 2004 06:58 PMWell, I'm watching all the people who have parked on the 101 and left their cars to watch the procession. I could not be more indifferent to those others. Posted by: David [.net] at June 11, 2004 07:20 PMMostly that last one, Robert- it's one thing to say "I disagree with you on some issues, and here's why..." and another to say "I think you should suffer eternal torment because you disagree with me". One is reasonable, the other borders on mental illness, IMO. Posted by: rosignol at June 11, 2004 07:43 PMActually Robert McC., if you follow the link, and then in the comments section there is a link: It is the (un)Rev. Phelps "God Hates Fags" neanderthals. Nope, not leftists but rightist of the same extremism. And these people would decry a coarsening of society, with crude language et al.; yet they show a complete lack of manners. Posted by: Robert at June 11, 2004 08:05 PMI don't know that such upsets me that much. People who are unable to be polite, or reasonable like that, I pity. It is very sad that their small mindedness and tiny hearts cannot for even a few minutes let a man die in peace, without making an ass of themselves. Or as Mr. T would say, "I pity the fools" Posted by: Ben at June 12, 2004 01:13 AMSo what exactly pisses all of you off about these people displaying the fact that they did not like Reagan? The fact that they're doing it at his funeral. C'mon, it's not that hard to figure out. All the "Reaganites" asked for (implicitly) was a little human decency during his frickin' burial, and they barely even got that. Some people just can't control themselves, I guess. Posted by: RyMaN600 at June 12, 2004 09:36 AMTO: Stephen Green Those people are probably people who don't believe in "Hell" in the first place. You know, atheists. So what they say is not what they believe. Therefore, it is totally bogus. All they are doing is trying to draw attention to themselves. Negative attention at that. The gentleman you cite, by link, is correct. They are not much different from that fellow, Mr. Phelps; seeking negative attention. And furthermore, they are probably living very 'angry' lives. You would not find peace of mind in any contacts with them. So what to do about them. The christians will probably pray that they get a revelation. Their associates will praise them. As for the rest, they'll become more like them. Which is the more noble course of action? Regards, Chuck(le) Posted by: Chuck Pelto at June 12, 2004 04:11 PMJust when you think the left can't get any more classless. Isn't that the goal? Posted by: EH at June 12, 2004 08:07 PMRobert McC infests yet another blog. Lessee.... I've had to scroll past Robert on Daimnation, Buzzmachine, LGF..... Stephen, time to get out the bug spray. Posted by: Yehudit at June 12, 2004 09:57 PMTO: Yehudit ...a homosexual? I've seen this sort of 'infestation' behavior before. Usually from that group. Regards, Chuck(le) Posted by: Chuck Pelto at June 13, 2004 02:54 PMHere in MA, land of the self-annointed 'progressives' I deal with this kind of bigotry all the time. You see, people like Robt McC cannot be bigots, because, by definition, they believe all the right things. The rest of us are bigots not because of what we say or do, but what the 'progressives' say we say or do. Up here in the enlightened Commonwealth, one develops a fairly high tolerance for this sort of barking moonbat. And yet, it's still odd when you see one outside its natural habitat ... Posted by: Matt at June 13, 2004 03:06 PMAh, the selected-Bush gambit. What's that worth, three drinks? Any unfavorable comparison of Bush with Hussein isn't worthy of any deeper commentary, Robert. Posted by: Slartibartfast at June 14, 2004 09:48 AMRube? Isn't he cute!!! Well, in a dog eating his own feces way but whatever... Posted by: Richard at June 14, 2004 10:33 AM |
