Actually, I think that might have been the Phelps gang. I saw some footage of them on the news and in addition to the Reagan/Hell signs, there were some damning Bush for being pro-gay.

Don't ask me to explain that one, just what a couple folks were holding. I suppose we may next see a "Eat a gay fetus for Christ" poster.

Well, I'm watching all the people who have parked on the 101 and left their cars to watch the procession. I could not be more indifferent to those others.

Mostly that last one, Robert- it's one thing to say "I disagree with you on some issues, and here's why..." and another to say "I think you should suffer eternal torment because you disagree with me". One is reasonable, the other borders on mental illness, IMO.

And these people would decry a coarsening of society, with crude language et al.; yet they show a complete lack of manners.

I don't know that such upsets me that much. People who are unable to be polite, or reasonable like that, I pity. It is very sad that their small mindedness and tiny hearts cannot for even a few minutes let a man die in peace, without making an ass of themselves.

Or as Mr. T would say, "I pity the fools"

C'mon, it's not that hard to figure out. All the "Reaganites" asked for (implicitly) was a little human decency during his frickin' burial, and they barely even got that.

Some people just can't control themselves, I guess.

Those people are probably people who don't believe in "Hell" in the first place. You know, atheists. So what they say is not what they believe. Therefore, it is totally bogus.

All they are doing is trying to draw attention to themselves. Negative attention at that.

The gentleman you cite, by link, is correct. They are not much different from that fellow, Mr. Phelps; seeking negative attention. And furthermore, they are probably living very 'angry' lives. You would not find peace of mind in any contacts with them.

So what to do about them. The christians will probably pray that they get a revelation. Their associates will praise them. As for the rest, they'll become more like them.

Which is the more noble course of action?

Here in MA, land of the self-annointed 'progressives' I deal with this kind of bigotry all the time. You see, people like Robt McC cannot be bigots, because, by definition, they believe all the right things.

The rest of us are bigots not because of what we say or do, but what the 'progressives' say we say or do. Up here in the enlightened Commonwealth, one develops a fairly high tolerance for this sort of barking moonbat. And yet, it's still odd when you see one outside its natural habitat ...
