Still Breathing
Posted by Stephen Green · 19 May 2004
Just busy as all get-out -- whatever that means. Light blogging until (let's be honest) I'm back to having no life. Cheers! PS That was a joke, OK? Comments
Well I found a funny 'fisking' of an MSN article on an old friends blog. What happened to the posts that were older than 2-3 days? Posted by: rosignol at May 19, 2004 06:54 PMStephan, get over regular life. I have an insatiable appetite for free ice cream. What are you doing that's so freakin important? Trust me, an outdoor bar is NOT that IMPORTANT! Posted by: Kathianne at May 19, 2004 06:54 PMLife? What's a life? Posted by: Kathy K at May 19, 2004 06:59 PMI'll get a life when someone can prove to me that it's better than what I've got now! Posted by: Cybrludite at May 19, 2004 07:58 PMCome on, man! We need analysis of the day's news! Like...er...the media spinning its wheels in Iraq. The 9/11 commission shaming itself. John Kerry not being in the news...again...um. Ok, forget it. New day, same drivel. Come back when you're revitalized and there's something worthwhile to talk about. Posted by: Mike M at May 19, 2004 08:45 PMSorry but this was just too good to pass up... Mo Dowd is writing a book called BUSHWORLD (oh the puns...) To be released in 2005 (nothing if not punctual) Where we get witty, insightful, intelligent, and Pulitzer Prize winning banter like: "In Bushworld, it's perfectly natural for the president and vice president to appear before the 9-11 commission like the Olsen twins." oh god if I ever stop laughing I might just have to stop commenting and revive my now-defunct blog where I can devote the time and effort into lampooning this for all it's bound to be worth... (links off Drudge) Posted by: Mike M at May 19, 2004 08:52 PMIf you aren't doing much blogging, do you mind if I tell your readers that on my blog I got the name and picture of the intern, Washingtonienne who worked for senator Dewine and had sex with 6 politicians for money. Posted by: Ricky Vandal at May 21, 2004 07:23 PMhad not heard of your blog before today, when atrios reposted this gem in response to Gore's 02 speech to the commonwealth club in SF. You say we need to focus on the Terror War, but ignore Iraq? Albert Jr., you know better than that. Saddam finances and supplies terror, and may well be providing it sanctuary now, as well. The Iraq War will be just a phase in the broader conflict -- and a quicker, cleaner, easier effort than the others lying before us. Pick the low-hanging fruit early. Then again, you've never been a big fan of that, or you wouldn't have lost your home state in the 2000 election. My bad if you already have, but isn't it time for you folks to stand up and loudly proclaim WE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG IF WE TRIED! and/or YOU'RE RIGHT, WE'RE WRONG, THE PRESIDENT IS A FUCKING IDIOT! Posted by: Ampleforth at May 22, 2004 07:32 PMLet's see, Saddam had his nuke program and others on hold, waiting until the inspectors gave him the light frisk, then declared everything hunky-dory. Once they were gone he could resume his search for nukes etc. This is a man who recklessly started two wars to steal other people's oil. He has massacred hundreds of thousands of people. We now know he will never have nukes. That is a good thing. The deeper purpose of the Iraq campaign is to start the reform of the dysfunctional Arab/Persian political culture into one featuring consensual government. This is intended to destroy the "root causes" of terrorism. I'm sorry if this is too sophisticated and deep a strategy for simplminded people like Kos, Atrios, and John Kerry to understand, but that's not our fault. The alternative to destroying the terrorists is a rising tide of terrorist violence reaching a crescendo with nuclear terrorist strikes. If you want that, bug out from Iraq. If not, keep fighting. Posted by: Michael Lonie at May 23, 2004 12:17 AMYou still have the guts to call other political cultures dysfunctional? See: You know why General Taguba's report didn't find any "rotten apples" at the top of the military and political echelon? From today's Washington Post: If that isn't a selective and biased search for evidence I don't know what it is. Posted by: The Old European at May 26, 2004 01:52 AM |
