Dennis Miller on being called a conservative:
"I've always been a pragmatist," he said. "If two gay guys want to get married, it's none of my business. I could care less. More power to them. I'm happy when people fall in love. But if some idiot foreign terrorist wants to blow up their wedding to make a political statement, I would rather kill him before he can do it, or have my country kill him before he can do it, instead of having him do it and punishing him after the fact. If that makes me a right-wing fanatic, I will bask in that assignation."
Amen.
I like how he treats Lenny Bruce. I've felt the same way about him in the past (and he predates me a bit).
Wouldn't it be great if Miller runs for senator against Ms Boxer? It would almost make me want to move to the golden west so I could vote for him.
Could you imagine reading a speech into the Congressional Record?
Congress wouldn't get it.
Well, half of Congress wouldn't be there to get it. So that wouldn't be a problem.
Besides, most of those there when a fellow congresscritter is speechifying aint paying attention anywho.
The word 'assignation' usually denotes a lovers' tryst.
Dennis Miller's an arrogant near-megalomaniac. He's always been an arrogant near-megalomaniac. Now he's changed his political bearings -- I remember him praising NPR and mocking AM talk radio a few years ago -- without acknowledging his shift or gaining a trace of humility. Don't fall in love with this guy.
Dennis Miller does not condescend to his audience. He does not "dumb down" his humor or his social commentary to pander to the reality T.V. watching crowd, no he respectfully engages his audience fully aware that a large segment of our population does in fact "get it". Unfortunately there are a few pseudo-intellectuals who never will. Conspiracists, alarmists and the like that analyze people to a point until their perception is blurred and their thought process is like that of a shabby derelict vagabond bummimg change for a life saving bottle of hootch. Sorry you don't particularly care for Dennis Miller. Let me guess you have seen Mystic River 12 times because your hero Sean Penn is in it.
