Spotted Al Gore MUST be surrounded by yes-men and yes-women. How else could he have brought himself to believe/concoct this nonsense?!
There's a good quote from a former CEO of XEROX that I'll attempt to recall: 'If you have a yesman or a yeswoman in your ranks, then one of you is redundant.'
There has been a long-standing belief among liberals (and, yes, it's certainly possible that there's a mirror belief on the conservative side) that "if only the average person KNEW what we stood for, OF COURSE they'd vote liberal." This is part of Mikey Moore's rant, when he talks about "WE are the REAL majority!"
So, why don't folks vote liberal (or socialist, or Green)? "Because corporate media keeps us from getting our message out."
This is often followed by "Because sell-outs, e.g., less liberal Democrats, side w/ big money/corporate sponsors/class opponents, etc."
And often ends w/, "Those stupid people, they must be SHOWN what's good for them."
Few articles cause me to immediately reach for the scotch, but this one qualifies.
Jeeeez.
Not to worry. It's merely Al Gore, author of "Earth in the Balance", in his preachy know-it-all mode, scraping his brain for old McLuhan deposits and pouring out a gruel for the MoveOn.org crowd, though they should be renamed ShuffleToTheLeft.Org.
I thought Gore was starting a liberal radio talk show. Is the TV network in addition to the radio show, or instead of?
Inquiring minds want to know.
