ABC News has more details on that raid or attack or whatever it was in Afghanistan today. Let's find out what is was, exactly:
About 1,000 U.S. troops launched a raid on villages in southeastern Afghanistan Wednesday night, hunting for members of the al-Qaida terrorist network, military officials said.
Helicopters ferried troops from the Army's 82nd Airborne Division to the remote, mountainous area as the hunt for Osama bin Laden and his terror network intensified.
U.S. military officials in Afghanistan only confirmed the operation was underway.
"I do not have anything to say about the Kandahar operation at this time," said Col. Roger King, U.S. army spokesman.
OK, so maybe they didn't have much more in the way of details, but at least now we know the story is for-real. Iraq isn't the only enemy here, and it's nice to see the Administration not forgetting that.
There's also a little shock and awe when you can strike multiple targets on two fronts nearly-simultaneously.
LOL...this war on Iraq is really distracting us from the failures in the War on Terror.
Fox has Jeraldo with the troops on this raid. If I'm Osama, I can't imagine a more terrible fate than a post-capture interview with Jeraldo. Especially if Jeraldo wears his hat.
I'm watching FNC and they have Iraqi TV on - supposedly Saddam speaking to the nation. But I think it's a Fake Saddam - doesn't look like the same guy they showed meeting with his generals a few days ago.
Maybe we got him...
Geraldo Rivera and the Secret of Osama's Skull...
Regarding the 82nd's mission:
I don't think we're going after OBL on this. Last I check, OBL wasn't anywhere near Kandahar. Sheik Omar, the head of Taliban is from Kandahar, and the area around there remains his base.
Yeah, but the guys the 82nd captured are saying the AQ guys who fled to Pakistan plan to come across the border and attack once we start hitting Iraq.
Sure it would be incredibly stupid of them. Are they thinking clearly now?
Anyway, maybe the 82nd is making a sweep to pick up some fundis who listened too much to the "can't fight on two fronts" crowd.
