Last night I wrote, with all due sarcasm:
Yes, Cynthia McKinney lost her reelection bid.
Damn meddling Jews.
Also, I thought the juxtoposition of antisemitism and that old line from Scooby-Do was kinda funny. Then this morning, the Prof finds this on CNN:
In her loss, McKinney joined Rep. Earl Hilliard, Democrat of Alabama, as the second black lawmaker targeted by Jewish groups to lose a re-election bid in the post-September 11 era. Fueled by contributions from the Jewish community, Majette raised more money than the incumbent.
I'm done with CNN.
You weren't already?
And nice to have you back Steven.
Hey! The professor was asleep when THIS GUY (me annoyingly pointing both thumbs at myself) found CNN's rabble regarding 'the Jews' and their campaign to defeat McKinney. Right here.
It's no big deal. I'm just bragging.
Congrats Steve on your marriage. You have a lovely bride.
The force is strong in this one!
I realise this is likely to be unpopular, but isn't it possible that this is true? I mean, Jewish people have the same right as all Americans to support candidates they like with donations. The only people I know of that think they shouldn't are the racists.
It's true, VodkaMan. Billy McKinney said so.
Seriously, I'm not exactly sure where Denise Majette's money came from, though I am fairly certain Artur Davis got quite a bit of money from New York state.
But the "Jewish groups" thing: CNN should've known at least somewhat better. It's not as if there were no Jews in her district before this year -- not for nothing is Emory called "Jew U" (alongside Duke and Tulane).
She lost because of who voted, not because of who donated. Besides, Atlanta Jews have better things to do with their money. Like (crossing fingers) build winning NFL teams.
congratulations on your wedding. I had heard that Melissa was looking for a good man. Smart of you to ask before she found one! ;-)
"Mighty Whitey" found another example from Peter "My ex is buddy-buddy with Yasser" Jennings.
