Any Last Words?
Posted by Stephen Green · 1 August 2002
Melissa and I just spent a few hours we couldn't spare so that my Grandfather Green and his lovely wife Nancy could get to know Melissa a bit better. Man, we really couldn't afford those four hours. But I'm awfully glad we did it. And now I'm off to Denver for my bachelor party. If I live through it, I might just get married. Ta. Comments
Print this out, put it in an envelope, and mail it to yourself for five years from now or when they are both gone. Then ask yourself if you couldn't spare the time. I myself have scars on my fingertips from trying to turn back the hands of time for lost moments mis-spent, and far too many sentences begin with "If only" these days when I think back. Posted by: Laurence Simon at August 1, 2002 07:10 PMCongratulations. Mrs. Dreck and I wish you the very best. We have been together for 19 years now (15 married) and have not regretted a minute. I can tell that you and Melissa will do even better. Cheers. Posted by: "Mindles H. Dreck" at August 1, 2002 08:15 PMWelcome to the club. 21 years here. My marriage is finally old enough to drink. Seriously, your going to love it. Like Lou Reed said "It's the begining of a great adventure..." Posted by: ZipityDooDah at August 1, 2002 09:47 PMCongrats man. Just take it easy with that debauched bachelor party action, and I’m sure you’ll do fine. More importantly, have a helluva honeymoon, Just don’t stay away too long. :) Well, you're Jewish and I'm of German descent, so it only seems appropriate that I leave you and Melissa a Bedouin blessing: "May you always have water, shade, and peace." Posted by: Carl at August 1, 2002 11:25 PMDear Stephen, I have really enjoyed reading your blog but you really deserve a break away from the coalface for some suitably romantic R&R. All the best to you and Melissa for the future. Bloggers rule! Tom Burroughes Congratulations and best wishes to you and Melissa! Posted by: emily at August 2, 2002 06:14 AMAs a longtime reader of your excellent blog, allow me to extend my congratulations and best wishes to you and Melissa both. You guys will make a great couple :-) Posted by: Misha at August 2, 2002 06:46 AMIf you can't survive a bachelor party, there is no hope for any man alive. Seriously, enjoy it. And tell the lovely Melissa we wish her the best of luck. Posted by: Jessica at August 2, 2002 07:46 AMAllow yourself to enjoy the unconscious belief that everything is how it should be, and that all is right with the world. When it's just the two of you, there's nothing more true. I hope you guys have those dopey grins that get everyone else in a room smiling ;) Nothing but the best. Posted by: Matt at August 2, 2002 08:25 AMBest wishes for a long and happy marriage! May your love for each other prove stronger than any obstacles you face together. Posted by: Liz l at August 2, 2002 08:32 AMIs there an address where we can send gifts of ultra-premium vodka? ;) Posted by: Lowell at August 2, 2002 09:09 AMVP: Best wishes, amigo. Treat her like the princess she is, and remember that "Yes, dear, you were right" are the Most Important Words you will ever utter. BTW - skip the bachelor party - you don't need it, and it doesn't need you. Show up, say hi, and then slip out the back door and go out on a date with your betrothed. My two cents. May your marriage be all that it deserves to be. Posted by: DavidMSC at August 2, 2002 10:19 AMLast words? Too lazy...I'll just echo what Pejman said...and add a mazel tov of my own. Posted by: EW1(SG) at August 2, 2002 12:10 PMCongratulationsand best wishes! May you have a long and happy life together.
Here's hoping that the wedding is as wonderful as we all know the marriage will be. All my best to you both and to your two very, very lucky families.
